Since COP Twenty Stitch, we’ve been thinking about further ways to take effective action on climate change.

As part of our search, we discovered the great work of Hope for the Future (HFTF), a climate charity which works to equip communities, groups and individuals across the country to communicate the urgency of the climate emergency with their local politicians. Their vision is to see communities and their elected representatives across the UK come together to take decisive action on climate change.

We’re delighted that HFTF have kindly agreed to deliver some training, here at Stitched Up, for anyone interested in climate action from a clothing/fashion perspective.

This training session will provide you with the tools to communicate the urgency of climate change to politicians and decision-makers, and take you on the journey to creating policy change.

Based on HFTF’s seven years of experience engaging MPs, this training will provide you with the skills to build strong relationships with your elected representatives on climate change, with a particular focus on sustainable fashion. Whether you’ve never contacted your MP before or are a seasoned campaigner, you will find value in this training. HFTF will offer tried and tested advice to help you be most effective in connecting with your MPs and councillors.

This training will include tailored information on Kate Green MP and Trafford Council but will be applicable to all elected politicians. No prior knowledge or experience needed. If crafting’s not for you, this is another great way to support sustainable fashion and create climate action by improving the policy on this issue. Hope for the Future offers ongoing 1-to-1 expert support for citizens to engage with their elected politicians, so this could be just the first step on your journey.

The training takes place on Monday 28th Feb 2022, from 6:30pm – 8:30pm at Stitched Up in Stretford Mall.

Tickets are completely FREE, but places are limited so you need to book a ticket to secure your space.
