Stitched Up spend a night on the streets to raise money for the Booth Centre

On Friday 9th November the Stitched Up team is taking part in the Manchester Sleepout to help raise vital funds for the Booth Centre.

The Booth Centre is a charity that exists to bring about positive change in the lives of people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness – helping them plan for and realise a better future. Every day of the week, they provide free meals, advice, support and training, plus a wide variety of creative activities, aimed to boost self confidence and wellbeing.

As many of you will know, Stitched Up have been facilitating the weekly sewing sessions at the Booth Centre for nearly two years now. Working with the sewing group is one of the highlights of our week – we’re constantly amazed by their talent and creativity.
You can check out some of our sewing projects here, here – and the magnificent quilt below!

In our time at the Booth Centre, we’ve witnessed how this small charity makes such a big difference to people’s lives and we wanted to do something to help.

So, on Friday 9th November, the Stitched Up team will be giving up our warm beds to spend a night sleeping outdoors.
We know this experience will be nothing like the reality of actually living on the streets – though almost certainly be cold and get little sleep, we’ll be safe and secure. And we’ll know exactly where our next meal is coming from.

But we hope that by going through this experience, we’ll raise some much-needed funds for the Booth Centre to help support them in the brilliant work they do.

None of us are going to find the Sleepout easy – we’ve all been known to have personality malfunctions when over-tired 😨 (just be thankful that we aren’t teaching any sewing classes the next day!)

So please help cheer us on by chucking a few pennies in our fundraising pot if you can…

And wish us luck for the big night!
