As well as running our public programme of workshops and events, we travel across Manchester to deliver fashion, sewing and wellbeing activities for organisations supporting young people and vulnerable adults.

We’re proud to work with some truly incredible Manchester organisations, so we thought it’d be good to share with you the amazing work they do in this city and the projects we work on together.

Interventions Alliance

We have been working with Interventions Alliance for a year now, with more planned in the future. Let’s talk about what they do –

What they Do

Interventions Alliance are an employee owned business who work with ex-offenders to support them moving in a positive direction. They work with vulnerable groups to improve their wellbeing and life skills, to help with future employment, and ensure they live long and happy lives.

Our Work Together

We’ve worked on a number of different projects with Interventions Alliance, which has allowed us to bring different types of wellbeing and skill learning workshops to the varied participants.

We ran a scrap busting workshop with them, where we created coasters and baskets from second hand t-shirts. Read more about this project on our previous blog.

A longer project was an 8 week course during the first half of 2024, where they worked towards creating community bunting for the Interventions Alliance space. Using a variety of techniques, participants created a pennant to represent something that helps their wellbeing. We had activities like going to the cinema, relaxing in the sun, and venues such as Fab Cafe represented in the final bunting.

Over the course of the sessions, we were also able to teach various alterations and mending techniques for specific items participants had brought in from their own wardrobes. The purpose of this workshop was to create a final product that could be displayed in the space, and also to improve the wellbeing of the participants through a supportive, creative environment.

Support their Work

If you would like to support their work, and can spare up to 3 hours a week, Interventions Alliance has volunteering opportunities available, with full training given. Check out their website for more information on the services they provide, and how they might be able to help you or someone you know.
