Yayoi Kusama kicked off Factory International’s opening summer with You, Me, and the Balloons, an enormous immersive exhibition filled with colour, tendrilled landscapes, and a lot of polka dots!
Stitched Up ran a couple of youth drop in workshops for an evening of upcycling fun. Over the event we took unloved items of clothing, from T-shirts to Bucket Hats, to turn them into something awesome to wear. We used a variety of techniques with the guests, bringing some life back to an unloved garment with a mix of hand sewing and printmaking, being inspired by the exhibition, with a focus on joy, colour, and psychedelics.
We loved the creativity of people’s makes, and it was great to see couples and families working together to create a Kusama inspired piece. Keep an eye out for more events with Stitched Up and Factory International in the future!
