This week is Repair Week, celebrating our growing repair movement here in the UK. So what better time to celebrate the many Repair Cafes we now have in Greater Manchester!
According to Recycle for Greater Manchester, last year we chucked an estimated £417 million worth of repairable items in GM. Repair Cafes are one way you can keep your things in use and out of the waste stream for longer.
We’ve made a handy map so you can find your nearest one.

You can also visit repaircafesGM.org.uk for a growing list of GM repair cafes.
Never been to a Repair Cafe before? Here’s what you can expect..
They are pop up events, usually happening monthly and are run by dedicated volunteers. This volunteer team have various repair skills and will help you fix your broken household items (clothes, bikes, electrical items + more). Some Repair Cafes limit you to bringing just one or two items, so that they can help as many people as possible, so it’s definitely worth checking this sort of thing in advance with them. You’ll find lots of lovely people to chat with while you’re there and you can usually get a hot drink and a biscuit too! Repair Cafes are completely free to attend, however if you can afford to make a donation, it helps the volunteers to cover costs such as venue hire, tools and refreshments.
If you’ve visited a Repair Cafe, we’d love to hear about your experiences!
