Here at Stitched Up towers, we’ve recently made a decision – every bank holiday weekend, we will close our HQ for the entire weekend.

At first glance, that might seem an indulgent decision. But for us, it’s a valuable opportunity to recharge our batteries.

Our co-op members and volunteers work incredibly hard year-round, and put a huge amount of energy and enthusiasm into the business. We work at least one day in every weekend, as well as daytimes and evenings during the week. Each of us have to juggle other jobs or commitments outside of Stitched Up too. It’s certainly not a 9-5 routine!

We work hard because we love what we do and we’re passionate about the business. But passion or not, all this hard work takes its toll, and we need a rest from time-to-time.

Work-life balance is important to us, and is something we’re still working to perfect. Our loved ones will attest to the fact that they often come second to Stitched Up!

It feels like the UK in general works too hard, and Sweden’s six-hour working day is a tempting proposition, especially given that it reportedly doesn’t result in a loss in productivity.

As a workers’ co-op, we’re in the fortunate position that we can make decisions about our working hours. So during this and all Bank Holidays, we’re taking an opportunity to look after our hard-working crew by giving everyone a rare weekend off to spend as they please. Really, it’s the least we can do.

Bank Holidays mark out days of national celebration. As far as we’re concerned, whatever your religion the Spring & Summer Bank Holidays allow us to celebrate the emerging seasons with friends and family, to (hopefully!) get outside and soak up some much-needed vitamin D!

No doubt some of our customers will be disappointed to find us closed this weekend, but equally many will be having a well deserved break themselves. We’ll be delighted to welcome you at our HQ the following week instead, when our normal opening hours will resume.

If you’re ever unsure of our opening hours, we update our website with the dates that we’re closed.

Here’s wishing you all a lovely and restful break over the coming weekend 🙂
