WALK IN WARDROBE // RUSHOLME
Our interactive sustainable fashion experience is back this autumn! ‘Walk in Wardrobe’ lifts the lid on the impact of fast fashion and encourages you to join the call for change.
Step inside the Walk in Wardrobe, explore the interactive zones to discover more about the impacts of clothing on people and the planet, get inspired by local groups and campaigns and try out alternatives like repair, upcycling, styling and swapping.
The project has been funded by Hubbub’s In Our Nature programme which is supporting residents and communities in Manchester to take positive action on the climate emergency.
It takes place at Birch Community Centre in Rusholme on 26th and 27th October.
The event is aimed at young people aged approximately 10+, but visitors of any age and accompanying parents/guardians are welcome. The event is free to attend and no ticket is required, unless you want to participate in our Wardrobe Surgery workshop where we’ll be helping you upcycle and repair your clothes. Scroll down to book tickets for this session.
Allow up to 90 minutes for your visit. You are of course welcome to stay longer if you’d like! Please arrive promptly for your Wardrobe Surgery session, as we are not able to extend the duration if you are late.
We welcome group visits – please email us on hello@stitchedup.coop to let us know when you’re coming to ensure we can accommodate you.
Skills: Have a go at clothes swapping, try your hand at styling outfits, find out about local campaigns and projects you can get involved with and learn more about the social and environmental impacts of fast fashion. If you’d like to attend the Wardrobe Surgery during your visit, you can learn basic sewing, clothes repair and upcycling skills. Please scroll down to book a ticket for this.
Level: Suitable for beginners, suggested age approx 10+
Bring: If you’d like to try clothes swapping on the day, bring up to 3 items of clothing that are clean and in good condition. If you’re attending the Wardrobe Surgery, bring an item of clothing to repair or upcycle.
Other than that, all you need to bring is yourself!
BEFORE THE EVENT: SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS >>
Prior to the event, we’re looking to find out more about what you already know and would like to find out more about! If you have a spare 5 minutes, we’d love it if you could fill out our pre-event survey. There are just 7 questions and it should only take a few minutes of your time.
