[TBC] Natural Dyeing With food Waste
Dye your own embroidery thread with items in your kitchen!
Learn how to use everyday leftovers from the kitchen to dye your own embroidery threads. You will never look at onion skins or avocado stones in the same way again!
During the day you will learn how to treat the thread before dyeing including using mordants, create a natural dye stock with items in the kitchen and dye your thread.
You will take home at least seven samples of embroidery thread in a variety of colours. Although we will be using embroidery silk for this workshop the techniques are transferable to yarn.
Skills: Prepping and mordanting samples, creating dye stocks and dyeing thread.
Level: Suitable for complete beginners
Bring: An apron, plastic gloves and plastic tub to take you samples home in case they have not dried.
All other materials and equipment will be provided.
There will be a 30-minute break for lunch in the middle of the day. You are welcome to bring your own lunch, or pop out to grab something during the break.
