Learn To Knit with Michele [MAY 2023]
Always wanted to learn how to knit and whip up your own knitted project?
Join Michele for a three week introduction to knitting including support and advice when starting your own project.
Fabric technician and Textile artist Michele Pouncey-Orr with a degree in Printmaking and an MA in Textile Practice has over 20 years of experience working across various textile and print related projects. These have included creating bespoke fabrics, knitted props and costume related garments and accessories for film and TV.

Over the weeks you will learn basic knitting skills for beginners including casting on and casting off, garter stitch, stocking stitch and how to knit stripes.
You’ll also experiment with different needle sizes and various yarn weights.
Learn 2 different ways to cast on. Knit tension swatches in garter stitch and stocking stitch using
different needle sizes.
Experimenting with different yarns. Understanding yarn labelling. Learn how to cast off.
Introduction to working in stripes. Selecting yarn content and needle size from swatches for
Skills: Casting on techniques. Garter stitch. Stocking stitch. Casting off. How to select correct needle size and wool. Tension swatch squares. Learn how to knit stripes. Understanding labels on different yarns.
Level: Adult (aged 17+), Beginner
Bring: We will provide the equipment and materials required to create your beginner swatches. Knitting needles, patterns and wool will be available to buy when starting your own personal project in the final week
