Creative Hand Embroidery with Victoria Merness [March 2022]
Victoria’s mission is to teach the world to stitch, and well-being is at the very heart of her small business, Little House of Victoria.
Victoria is a qualified art teacher and practising artist, and teaches embroidery to complete beginners and advanced stitchers alike. She is keen to help you grow your creative skills, to develop your own style, and to help you to escape from digital burnout.
With the stresses and strains of everyday life, we could all benefit from finding a meditative state of mind on a regular basis, embroidery is a very therapeutic craft. There is also an emphasis on using recycled materials in the workshops and projects that Victoria teaches, embroidery is a cost effective pastime, and nothing goes to waste!
This 3 hour workshop will cover everything you need to get started with Hand Embroidery. Patterns desiged by Victoria will be available to choose from, with tuition on hand.
We will start with the most basic stitches of straight stitch and stem stitch. Then progressing to trying stitches to suit the design that you have chosen, these could include chain stitch, split stitch herringbone stitch, fly stitch, leaf stitch, as well as the ever popular French Knot.
Skills: How to use an embroidery hoop. How to get started. How to complete basic and intermediate stitches. How to embroider with thread and wool. How to complete your chosen design. You will be able to take your design home to finish at your leisure, full tuition and guidance will be provided with access to online and downloadable materials to refer to after the course.
Level: Beginners upwards. There will be a wellbeing theme to the workshop, so if you are experienced and would just like to learn new skills, or a relaxing sewing session and a natter then come along.
Bring: All materials are included.
The designs have a Folk Art feel to them and will include traditional and modern stitches for you to try. You can take your design home after the workshop, and complete it at your leisure. Hopefully you will be hooked and can use the pattern as many times as you wish.
*PLEASE NOTE: As a small not-for-profit cooperative, our time and resources are always stretched to the max. In the event that a workshop is at less than 50% capacity, we will need to reschedule it. If this happens, you’ll be given as much notice as possible and your booking can be transferred to a future date or refunded. If you book a space on the workshop and need to cancel, please refer to our cancellation policy. We hope you understand and thank you for your support.
