Making Day // COP Twenty Stitch [9th Oct 2021]
COP Twenty Stitch – join us to demand local action on climate change!
This autumn, in the wake of the damning 2021 IPCC report, we’re bringing together Manchester craftivists and climate-concerned members of the community to urge local leaders for action on climate change with the COP Twenty Stitch project.
Along with local makers we’ll be co-creating an exhibit for our Stretford Mall space, highlighting the impact of the fashion industry on climate change. Made from post-consumer clothing and textiles, the display will be exhibited at Stitched Up from mid-October. It will include messages from local people to our MPs, asking them to support immediate and ambitious action on the climate.
Whether you’re an aspiring or practising craftivist, or just keen demand action on the climate, we invite you to join in with the COP Twenty Stitch project.
We’re hosting three Making Days for you to get involved with designing and making the exhibit. You can also come along to share a message to your local councillors or MP, asking them to back urgent and ambitious action on the climate.
The sessions will take place at our Stretford Mall workshop space on Saturdays 25th September, 2nd October and 9th October. They are free and open to anyone (young people aged 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult). All materials will be provided.
