Got a t-shirt you no longer wear or jeans that don’t fit anymore? Don’t chuck them out, get creative and give them a new lease of life at our Upcycling Workshop!
At this two-hour workshop you’ll learn how to wield needle and thread to revitalise an unloved item of clothing. Dive into our stash of reclaimed textiles, trims and buttons and get inspired by our samples rail. We’ll experiment with a variety of techniques including hand stitched applique, embellishment and garment reconstruction to create a garment you’ll wear for years to come!
Depending on the complexity of your chosen design, you may not have time to complete your project during the workshop. However, if that is the case, we’ll send you away armed with the knowledge to finish it at home.
Skills: This is a hand and machine sewing workshop. Depending on your chosen design, you will learn a range of techniques including applique, embellishment and garment reconstruction or alterations using hand or machine sewing, or both!
Level: Suitable for beginners
Bring: Bring an item of clothing that you’d like to work on.
*PLEASE NOTE: This workshop takes place in the Geoffrey Manton Building at MMU, not at our HQ in Chorlton.
