The ultimate in style self-sufficiency – learn to knit your own socks! While this is not a course for the absolute beginner, it’s suitable for anyone who knows how to cast on and off, knit and purl. We will knit one whole sock together in class and you can take what you’ve learned to knit the other one at home.
The course takes place at our HQ in Chorlton on the following dates:
Thurs 6th Feb, 6:30-8:00pm
Thurs 13th Feb, 6:30-8:00pm
Thurs 20th Feb, 6:30-8:00pm
Skills: Casting on and knitting in the round, rib stitch, knitting a sock heel and toe.
WEEK 1: Get to grips with knitting in the round and start off your sock by knitting the ribbed cuff and down to the heel. Depending on the speed of your knitting, you may need to finish this at home.
WEEK 2: Creating the heel of the sock and knitting the foot.
WEEK 3: Completing your sock by knitting the toe.
Level: Confident beginner – you’ll need to know how to cast on and off, knit and purl. No experience of knitting in the round is necessary.
Bring: You will need to bring your own knitting needles – we’ll send you details when you book. Wool is included in the price, but our range of colours is limited so you might want to bring your own if you have a specific colour in mind.
*PLEASE NOTE: As a small not-for-profit cooperative, our time and resources are always stretched to the max. In the event that a workshop is at less than 50% capacity, we will need to reschedule it. If this happens, you’ll be given as much notice as possible and your booking can be transferred to a future date or refunded. Please refer to our cancellation policy for terms and conditions. We hope you understand and thank you for your support.
