Bee Well Crafternoons (Chorlton)
Thursday, April 18, 2019 at 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm
Bee Well Crafternoons is a 12 week creative sewing course for adults facing mental health challenges
The course will be led by a Stitched Up tutor and will focus on creativity and resourcefulness using reclaimed materials.
Each week, we’ll be learning different textile craft skills, including knitting, crochet, hand and machine sewing, visible mending, clothes upcycling, printing, embroidery, applique, needle felting and more.
The group will provide a safe and supportive environment in which to learn and share new skills and get to know peers in your community with common interests and who face similar issues.
While the initial few sessions will follow a pre-prepared learning plan, as the programme progresses and the group gets to know one another, we will be encouraging YOU to shape the course content. We’ll be asking for input on the textile crafts you’d like to learn, and inviting you to share your own skills with the group – if you feel confident to do so (no pressure though!).
Throughout the course, you’ll work on your own chosen craft projects, working towards a completed item or collection of items by the end of the 12 weeks. These could be clothing, homewares, toys, textile art…
At the end of the course, we’ll have a photo shoot and create an online gallery to showcase your lovely finished items. You’ll also be invited to suggest further ideas for exhibiting your work and celebrating your achievements. For example, this might include an exhibition, or selling your items in aid of a charity of your choice.
Fancy joining us? We’d love to hear from you. Get in touch for more info and to reserve your place!
