Driving
We encourage travelling to us by other means wherever possible, as roads nearby can be congested during peak times. There is also limited parking available nearby.
Two options for parking are Piercy Street by Tony’s Chippy (free after 6pm) or Pollard Street / Pollard Street East. Please be aware that a permit system is in place along most of the nearby roads. We can provide a visitors permit for you, just let us know at the beginning of the session if you need one. Please allow a little extra time to collect and display your permit before the session starts.
The building

Our entrance can be difficult to spot – look out for the mural on the side of the building and head to the metal gates on Beswick Street.
Go through these gates and go down the steps or ramp to the front door. There will be a doorbell for the event you are attending outside the front door. Press, and a member of the team will come and let you in.

There are four steps down from the front door to the ground level of the building, which can also be accessed via a lift.
Our staff will ask you to sign in at reception before the session starts. They will then show you to the room. You’ll also need to sign out at the end of the session and any other time you leave the premises.
If you’re having any problems finding us or accessing the building, you can call us on 0161 881 7141.

The spaces we use
We use a few different rooms for our workshops and events at Bridge 5 Mill. We’ll let you know which space you’ll be in when you book.
Canalside Room
This room is on the ground floor, to the right as you come down the steps from the front door. It is a private room with a closing door that we will have sole use of during the session.
There is a disabled toilet just a few metres away in the Flaxworks space.
Flaxworks
This space is on the ground floor, just beyond the reception area. It is an open foyer area. As we are in a shared office space, people may walk through the space – mainly during office hours. At weekends this is much less likely.
There is a disabled toilet in this space and this is also where the tuck shop is located.
The Loft
This beautiful big space is on the fourth floor. It can be accessed by the lift from the ground floor.
You can find photos of all the spaces on the Bridge 5 Mill website.
Useful info
Temperature
As a heritage mill building, the workshop spaces can sometimes take a little while to warm up, so please bring a warm layer in case you need it.
Refreshments
During full-day workshops, we’ll usually have a half an hour break for lunch (this information will be provided when you book). There’s a small tuck shop on-site (cash only) where you can buy snacks and there’s also a microwave on site. Alternatively there’s a corner shop and a couple of fast food places down the road. You’re also welcome to bring your own food and drinks to any of our workshops, just be aware that Bridge 5 Mill is a vegetarian building so please refrain from bringing meat items if possible – thanks!
There’s a garden space by the canal just outside the building, you’re welcome to have your lunch or breaks out here (when the weather allows it!).
Accessibility and inclusion
We are committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and accessible environment for all our event attendees. We strive to ensure that everyone feels valued, respected and has equal opportunities to actively participate and learn – regardless of their abilities, backgrounds, or differences. This includes creating a space free from all forms of discrimination, including but not limited to discrimination based on age, gender, disability, race, religion, sexual orientation, or socio-economic status. These values are shared by our venue Bridge 5 Mill.
We expect all our staff, volunteers and attendees to help us maintain this safe space.
Inclusion and access at our events is an ongoing learning process, and we welcome feedback from our community at any time.
Our tutors will always do their utmost to help you learn in whatever way suits you best, so please do speak to them during the session about how they can help you.
If you have any specific accommodation requests, or if you have any questions at all about our events, the space or how to find us, please do get in touch.
We look forward to welcoming you at Bridge 5 Mill and hope you enjoy being in our beautiful space as much as we do!
