Here at Stitched Up HQ we’ve been thinking a lot lately about the idea of a capsule wardrobe. Partly because it’s nearly time for Labour Behind the Label’s annual Six Items Challenge, partly because it’s January (out with the old and in with the new) and partly because of some future plans we’ve been cooking up (more to be revealed soon enough).
We all love the idea of a capsule wardrobe. But do we have one? Hell no!
It’s appealing for many reasons – mainly being dressed always in clothes that fit and flatter. But also a more slimline wardobe, and less laundry are tempting thoughts. Surely also someone in possession of the hallowed capsule wardrobe is less vulnerable to the lure of fast fashion, making it a sustainable option too.
So what would be in the Stitched Up crew’s capsule wardrobes?
Off the top of our heads we’d choose:
Kelly: a well-fitting pair of jeans, basic tee, dress that can be dressed up or down and a plain cardigan. Although looking at the size of my wardrobe I certainly don’t stick to that!!!
Emily: a good pair of blue skinny jeans, a dress (perhaps), a black oversized t-shirt, a wool cardigan, and a pair of leather trousers…
Bryony: Bryony’s capsule wardrobe: jeans, a big woolly jumper, thin cardi, boxy t-shirt, leggings and a stretch pencil skirt. Come to think of it, exactly what I wore for the items challenge last year…!
And what about you? What would you choose for your capsule wardrobe? Answers on a postcard please!
